Schedule

Preliminary Grant Application Schedule

Submission Deadline: The Foundation Research Grants Program operates on an annual cycle. Preliminary Grant Applications must be submitted between January 1 and April 30 of the year in which funding is sought.

Acceptance/Rejection Decision: All Preliminary Grant Applicants will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their applications no later than June 1.

Formal Grant Proposal Schedule

Submission Deadline: Eligible applicants must submit Formal Grant Proposals by August 1 of the year in which the Preliminary Grant Applications were accepted.

Review by the Grant Reviewer Board: All Formal Grant Proposals are reviewed by an external panel of scholars who offer recommendations concerning funding to the Foundation's Board of Trustees.

Final Decision: On or about November 15, final funding decisions are made by the Foundation Board of Trustees. Applicants are notified immediately and thereafter contracts are prepared.

Funding of Proposals

Grants are funded for a maximum of 24 months and applicants may be funded for only one grant at a time. Funding may be granted for all or a portion of the request for funds or for all or a portion of a research project. Grantees receive funding in three stages:

1. Upon completion of the contract: 25%

2. Upon acceptance by the Foundation of the report due midway into the project: 50%

3. Upon acceptance by the Foundation of the final report: 25%

Grant Reporting Requirements

All grantees are required to provide reports at two points: midway through the project and at the conclusion of the project. Payments for the second and third stages of funding are dependent upon the completion by the grantee and acceptance by the Foundation of the report documents.

Publication of Research

The Foundation For the Future reserves the right to publish summaries or entire reports of research projects in its Future of Humanity monograph series and on its website. Research completed for the grant project may also be published by the grantee in other scholarly journals so long as proper credit is given for support from the Foundation For the Future.
