Andrey Ganopolski
Andrey Ganopolski received his graduate degree in physics from the Moscow State University in 1983 and obtained his PhD in physical oceanography at the same university in 1988. He then worked as a research scientist (since 1991 senior research scientist) in the Computing Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow developing numerical climate models. In 1992 he moved to the International Institute for Applied System Analysis (IIASA) in Austria where he worked for two years in the field of integrated assessment and global climate change. Since 1994 he is at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. His work there focuses on climate modelling, climate predictions and study of past climate changes. He received Peccei Award for his participation in the Young Scientists Summer Program at IIASA in summer 1992 and was appointed as Lecturer Professor at the Lanzhou University (China) in 2005. He served as a contribution author and reviewer for the latest three IPCC assessment reports. He has published over 70 scientific papers, five of which in Nature and Science.
