Workshops

“This Tiny Planet”

Convened June 18–20, 2004 | Foundation For the Future Building, Bellevue, Washington

The workshop “This Tiny Planet” focused on the scientific content, related to planetary considerations, of a one-hour television program to be entitled “Earth and Beyond.” Eight scholars worked together to look at the future of planet Earth and its options and potentialities in three timescales: one generation (25 years), ten generations (250 years), and forty generations (a thousand years).

“The Future Human”*

Convened November 8–10, 2002 | Foundation For the Future Building, Bellevue, Washington

Nine scholars gathered with Foundation officers and affiliates in a weekend workshop focused on Program 2: The Future Human, which addresses how humans may evolve in the next thousand years as our species begins to defy its biological limits.

First Producers Workshop

Convened April 19–21, 2002 | Hyatt Regency Hotel, Bellevue, Washington

The First Producers Workshop brought together 17 prominent television documentary producers and 11 eminent scholars to discuss content and production issues related to The Next Thousand Years television series.
